Fake News or just the normal Utter Bollocks

OK this is going to be just a spontaneous rant, but I just read a article on the BBC entitled “How fake news plagued 2017“. The piece then goes on to highlight a series of major ‘fake news’ stories that occurred this year.

And where does this article take all these supposed ‘fake news’ examples from? Fucking Twatter and Fecesbook! Facebook and Twitter are not news sources, so it’s not fake news.

Social media is just a ‘widely available’ version of the thoughts and opinions of the fuckwits who use it. Most people don’t watch or listen to TV or radio news, they switch channel as soon as it comes on. Most people aren’t interested in news, politics or current affairs. Most people are ignorant, ill-informed and poorly educated.

People have been talking utter bollocks in their everyday, local social environment for hundreds of years. And now, it’s these very same people using social media. So why then are we suddenly concerned? Why should we expect anything different?  And why is it suddenly being described as ‘fake news’? If ‘utter bollocks’ gets re-tweeted five million times it’s still utter bollocks?

It’s as if the ‘elite establishment’ are surprised that most people are ignorant, ill-informed and poorly educated? And there’s me thinking that was always part of their plan!?

There have been various reports and survey results published recently showing that for many people, their ‘main source of news’ comes via social media. But this statement is totally nonsensical. There is however an obvious underlying message, and that is what matters – the people who say they get their news from social media are the same people who change channels on their TVs as soon as the news comes on. People who are interested in the news don’t get it from social media.

“Where do get your news from?” “Oh there’s this guy at work I chat with sometimes”

“Where do get your news from?” “There’s this bloke in my local pub knows about all that stuff”

“Where do get your news from?” “My friend, she’s really into politics”

“Where do get your news from?” “All of the above actually, via social media”

Fake news or just the normal, everyday, talking utter bollocks?
